Apartment Update: All About My New Sectional

Even though I’ve been sharing some good stuff on interiors, it’s been a while since I gave you an official apartment update on what’s been happening with my new space. I decided to break up two major home interior projects into two blog posts, so stay tuned for some more exciting home updates!

If you haven’t read my last post: Apartment Update: Planning & Designing My Living Room, make sure you read it to see the full vision of my apartment!

Now let’s get started to the announcement and review you’ve been waiting for…

i got a sectional!

It officially delivered in January and has been one of the most treasured items of my young adult life. I personally want to take this time to thank both God and Living Spaces for making it possible * happy tear *(not sponsored btw, just totally in love). As you remember from my last post, the photo below was my inspiration for my Living Room. And the closest and affordable couch I could find to the white sectional was Living Spaces Aquarius II Sectional.

I know that buying a couch online can be very scary, and trust me, it took me a long time to make a decision, so I thought it would be helpful to share my thoughts now that I’ve had it for 3 months. I’ve gotten so many questions in my DMs on this specific couch and want to be sure that I’m providing helpful insight to make your search 10x easier (as well as giving you more look into the couch).

So, let’s get started!

Living Spaces Aquarius II Sectional

the review

So to start off, this sectional is called the Aquarius II Light Grey 2 Piece Sectional and I have the left arm facing chaise. They previously had an “Aquarius I” but discontinued it and replaced it with this bad boy. I’m not too sure what the difference is, but I know this is a little bit more expensive.

Right now, it’s retailing for $795.00, and with tax and the delivery fee ($100.00) I believe for me came to $936.00. Prior to moving into my apartment, I had already decided that my couch would be an investment piece. So the fact that it is huge and the perfect size for my apartment, and that I was able to see it in person, the price was very well worth it for me. I plan to have this couch for some time and will definitely be going with me to my next apartment!

I thought it would be helpful to break down this review into 8 categories and rate them out of 10.

Delivery = 10/10

I’ve heard some pretty terrible things about Living Spaces and their delivery, so I was super worried that mine would have some problems. (Which is why I drove to Dallas to try to pick it up). But thankfully, my delivery was a smooth 10/10. They let you know once your furniture piece has arrived in your city, and then you can schedule a date for someone to drop it off. The only thing is that you don’t find out what time they’re coming to drop it off that day until the night before. Thankfully, I was in my apartment anyway mounting my T.V., so it wasn’t an issue for me. But if you are someone who needs to run a lot of errands, then keep in mind to keep the delivery date completely open.

Color = 10/10

The color of the couch is absolutely gorgeous. The best way to describe it is a very light gray, which was a total surprise to me because online it looks like a pure white. I believe it depends on what’s around it. So for example, with dark walls, cool-toned floors and blue accent pillows, the grey will come off as a cool-toned white. But with white walls, warm-toned floors and pink accent pillow, the couch will read as a nice light grey (this is how it is in my apartment). When my friends come over, I can tell they’re a little nervous to eat on it, so I just started keeping nice comfy blankets in the living room that they can put on their lap while eating. I feel like this works until I get a suitable dining table, haha. I am so happy with it and couldn’t have picked a better color!

Material = 7/10

I’m rating the material a 7/10 not because I don’t like it, but because it initially wasn’t my first choice. The material is soft and slightly fuzzy — a very comfy combination that sounds strange, but actually looks great. I’ve grown to actually really like it. I included an upclose picture of the sectional material. Also I have noticed the fabric wrinkling in certain areas, but I just smooth it out and it’s been fine.

Comfort Level = 10/10

Like I said earlier, I visited the store so I knew how it felt before I ordered it (which I highly recommend if you have access to a Living Spaces). This is the hardest to describe in my opinion, but I would guess that out of 1 to 10, 1 being super firm and 10 being sinkable plushness, this is a 8. It’s comfy enough where you can sink into it, but also gives you support if you actually want to sit up correctly. Honestly, my ideal comfort level. And it’s absolutely perfect for lounging and sitting on it all day (trust me - I had a Harry Potter marathon and didn’t move for 8 hrs). But also the back is straight enough where i can work on my laptop and feel productive (not like those couches with a slanted backs). The seats are also actually a tad bit longer than your standard, so if you don’t like that, it may be weird for you. I love it because it’s easier for me to curl my feet up on it.

Structure = 6/10

Something that I have noticed with this sectional is that it’s pieces moves a lot. The pillows are Velcro-ed to the back frame which means that you may have to readjust it after people sit on it. And the chaise slips out of the lock connecting it to the main sofa part often and I have to always pull it back in place. Honestly, it doesn’t bother me as much, and I feel like this problem will significantly decrease once I get a rug (because my hardwood floors are slippery), but I did want to give you a heads up. If you are someone who needs everything to be in tip top shape all the time, you will have to readjust it quite often.

Size = 10/10

Y’all, I am absolutely in love with the size of the couch. It is so big! It has easily been able to fit 6+ people comfortably. The chaise is wide enough to hold 2 bodies with their legs stretched out at the same time. I love watching movies and hosting watch parties so this was something that was important to me. Please make sure you measure the space you have, because you and I will both be very sad if this baby comes in and doesn’t fit your living room.

Durability = 9/10

Everyone’s natural reaction when they first heard I was getting a white couch was a look of horror. But I’ve had two accidents on it and thankfully have been able to clean it up. One, I spilled some avocado on it - easy clean. The other time is when I spilled some blackberry pie filling on it - this wasn’t as easy. But I was able to get it off by scrubbing it with soap and water (2x ) and it still looks brand new! I’m not too worried since I don’t have any kids or pets, but if you do and still really want the sections, You should consider getting an extended Living Spaces warranty, or a protectant spray.

Napability = 10/10

I’ve had many sleeps on this bad boy. And I can report that this sectional will not disappoint.

Overall Thoughts

Overall, with the size, color, structure of this sectional at it’s price point, I think it was a really great purchase. Obvi, this is my first couch so please take that with a grain of salt, but I honestly have no qualms.

My top three pros are the size (perfect for lounging or movie nights), the color (really pretty), and the comfy-level (so comfortable!). My two cons would be probably the fact that the chaise detaches easily The price point was perfect for me, the size

Alright, friends! That’s all I have for you today. If you have any questions about the sectional or anything that I may have missed - please let me know in the comments below.
